Is He a Narcissist? 3 Truths Every Survivor Needs to Hear
If you’ve ever found yourself asking, Was it really abuse? Was he actually a narcissist?, you’re not alone—and no, you’re not crazy.
In this episode of That’s Where I’m At, I walk you through three foundational parts of the healing journey:
1. Recognizing Narcissistic Abuse
Narcissists aren’t always easy to spot. They’re not all loud, arrogant, or openly cruel. Some are quiet manipulators who chip away at your reality behind closed doors. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to know something was toxic. If you felt confused, controlled, or constantly blamed—it counts.
Myth: If he doesn’t fit the textbook definition, he’s not a narcissist.
Truth: If it hurt, if it was manipulative, if it left you doubting yourself—it was real.
2. Learning to Trust Yourself Again
Abuse teaches you to silence your intuition. Healing teaches you to listen to it again. No, your inner voice isn’t broken—it’s just been buried. You don’t need to be 100% certain to make decisions. You just need to start.
Myth: You’ll never trust yourself again.
Truth: That trust comes back—stronger—when you start honoring your truth.
3. Owning Where You’re At
There’s no timeline for healing. There’s no “should” when it comes to your pace. Whether you’ve just left or you’re years out—wherever you are is valid. You don’t need permission to move forward.
Myth: You should be over it by now.
Truth: Healing is messy, nonlinear, and deeply personal. And it’s okay if you’re still in it.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
